The hearing is by the Assembly Committee on Forestry, Parks, and Outdoor Recreation. The agenda for Tuesday’s meeting has not yet been published, but Green Fire anticipates the wake boat bill could be on the agenda if the bill is introduced on Monday with just 24 hours’ notice.
Now is an important time to stand up for our lakes and rivers. The coalition is strong because of our shared commitment to protecting Wisconsin’s waters, shoreline property, and aquatic ecosystems. We need to work together in support of legislation on wake enhanced boating that is:
- At least 700 ft from shore,
- In waters at least 30 ft deep, and
- Respects local control
The anticipated bill is unlikely to be even close to protective enough for our lakes and rivers. See the video below:
